Asset Reinvestment Studies

Asset Reinvestment Studies involves the development of a Deterioration Curve for the organization’s assets. The Deterioration Curve was developed through several projects with an Alberta based parks and recreation group which analyzed asset data of the organization. The Curve provides a framework for detailed analysis of the outcome of funding approaches. It helps organizations determine life cycle costing, conditions and value of assets with the key principle that preserving infrastructure at a higher condition level and lower percentage of lifespan is the most cost effective way of preserving that infrastructure over time.

Sample Acton Experience:

Alberta Association

We assisted an Alberta Association in conducting a review of three transportation infrastructure grant programs (Rural Transportation Grant, Local Bridge Program, and Resource Roads Program). We captured and analyzed their members’ current and future infrastructure needs and developed three funding model options for each of the grant programs. Through extensive member consultation we were able to develop funding options to meet the diverse needs of the 68 members.
